Most problems are one of the six below. If yours is not, write to us — a real person reads it.
Common problems
My phone can't find the screen
Both devices have to be on the same Wi‑Fi network, and the app has to be open on the screen you are sending to. A guest network, or a VPN on the phone, will hide one from the other — turn the VPN off and try again. If the screen still does not appear, type its address by hand: it is shown under the QR code on the receiving device.
Nothing arrives on my iPhone when the app is closed
That is a current limitation rather than a fault. An iPhone only receives while the app is open and on screen. Anything sent to it over the internet is held for seven days, so it will be waiting the next time you open the app — but you will not be notified in the meantime. A Mac receives in the background and will notify you.
The invite link says it has expired or been used
Invite links are deliberately single use and last 24 hours by default, so that one forwarded to the wrong person cannot be used later. Ask whoever sent it for a fresh one. If you already connected once, you do not need a new link at all — the screen stays in your list.
A photo was refused as too large
Anything over 25 MB is refused over the internet. Photo size in Settings is set to Large by default, which keeps almost every photo well under that while staying sharp on any screen. If you have set it to Original, a modern phone camera can exceed the limit on its own. Sending on the same Wi‑Fi has no such limit.
Someone I approved can't send any more
Approvals can be timed. When one runs out the sender stays in your list, marked expired, with an Extend button — ten minutes, a day, or always. They do not need a new invite, and no keys are exchanged again.
The window keeps jumping in front of what I'm doing
On the Mac, Settings ▸ General lets you hold that back: turn on Do Not Disturb, or name the apps that should suppress it — while they are open, or only while they are in front. Items still arrive and are still counted; only the window is held back, and you are told how many you missed the next time it is safe to show you.
Still stuck
Tell us what you were doing, which devices were involved, and whether you were on the same Wi‑Fi or not — that alone usually settles it.
Your data
There is no account to close. Deleting your device in Settings ▸ Internet ▸ Advanced removes everything the relay holds for it. What we can and cannot see is set out in full on the privacy page.
